Finland is a Nordic countries situated in the Fennoscandian region of Northern Europe. It is bordered by Sweden in the west, Norway in the north and Russia in the east, while Estonia lies to its south across the Gulf of Finland.

Finland was historically a part of Sweden and from 1809 on, Grand Duchy of Finland within the Russian Empire. Finland was a relative latecomer to industrialisation, remaining a largely Agriculture country until the 1950s.
